Spennymoor school children enjoy careers day with Livin Futures
We spent the day with year five and six school children from Ox Close Primary School, Spennymoor, at their annual careers event.
Lisa and Louise, from our Livin Futures team, put together house-building and guess-the-trade activities giving each of them hands-on experience and insight into career paths in the housing and construction industry.
The children also met with a range of people in different careers including firefighters, dental nurses, footballers, cardiac nurses, probation officers, solicitors, and more.
Louise Miller, Livin Futures Adviser said: "Career days are an excellent opportunity for young people to get a feel for what it's like working in different professions. Everyone had a really enjoyable day and we were very happy to support the school to start their youngsters on their career journeys."
Anna Bowden, Head Teacher of Ox Close Primary School, said: "Raising the aspirations of children is extremely important to us. Careers Day allows the children to explore different roles they may not have had experience with and gain an understanding of the skills required. Working with local businesses and professionals shows the children that they can aspire and aim for a career of their choice."
