Livin delivers much needed homes to rent for families and older people
Local housing association Livin set out an ambition in 2011 to build and acquire much needed new homes in the local area. From a standing start Livin has established partnerships and put in place a fully funded new homes development strategy, ensuring a pipeline of new homes for years to come. This year a significant milestone has been reached with over 500 new homes having been provided in communities where people needed them most.
To address a shortage of homes for families and older people in the local area Livin has built and purchased over 300 family homes and 200 homes for people aged 55 and over, to help tenants to live independently in their homes for longer.
The new homes have been made possible by working in partnership with Tolent Living Ltd, Esh Construction, Miller Homes and Barratt Homes. New build houses, bungalows and apartments have been offered for rent across local communities including Spennymoor, Newton Aycliffe, Ferryhill, Sedgefield and Chilton.
Andrew Kitchen, head of development said: “We listened to the needs of our customers and identified there was high demand for more of these types of homes in our local communities. We are delighted that we have been able to offer these properties to hundreds of tenants who can now enjoy living in quality new homes that are suitable for their needs.”
