We recently held engagement sessions across our communities for tenants to see the energy-efficient technology and sustainable solutions work planned for their homes this year.

In partnership with Mears Group, upgrades funded by the government's Social Housing Decarbonisation fund (SHDF) will be carried out to 340 homes to help tenants reduce the running costs, by increasing the property EPC rating.

The sessions allowed tenants to see the Smart Airbricks in real life and learn about the technology that makes them a welcome addition to the energy-saving measures we can provide. The Airbrick allows the free flow of air and is activated to stop the flow of water and fast airflow, assisting the retention of heat.

The UK government has set a target for social housing providers to achieve a minimum rating of Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) C for their rented properties by 2030 through the Clean Growth Strategy. This is a crucial step towards the more ambitious and challenging goal of making all homes 'net-zero-carbon' by 2050.

Robert, Livin tenant, said: “I am very happy with the work carried out, the electricians were brilliant very clean and tidy. I'm hoping that the installations will help me save some money on my energy bills".

Energy efficiency planned works including solar panels, LED lighting, cavity wall insulation and loft insulation as well as the installation of Smart Airbricks have contributed to over 75% of our homes now achieving EPC rating of C or above.
