A total of £4,000 has been donated to five areas across Durham county to help replenish the foodbanks during the festive period.
We are supporting the foodbanks to ensure families have access to much needed supplies over what is a difficult time for some.
County Durham and Tees Valley Rescue Mission (Junction 7) and Durham Foodbank via St Claire’s Church at Newton Aycliffe, St. Luke’s Church Ferryhill, Spennymoor, St. Pauls Centre, the Salvation Army and Shildon Alive have all received funding to enable them to replenish their supplies.
Vicky Miller, head of regeneration at Livin said “the festive period is a time where everyone should be happy, but the reality is many families are struggling to provide the basics as they face financial pressures”
“We are delighted we are able to help so many communities with their foodbanks and hope it goes a little way to helping a lot of people”
Donations have been further increased through a food parcel donation drop off scheme organised by Shildon AFC for Shildon Alive and additional funding of £1,000 to the Salvation Army food bank from Durham County Council.
