Holiday programme brings skills, fun and community spirit to Trimdon

Trimdon Community College Association welcomed 39 youngsters along to a day of exploring new skills, keeping active and having fun.

The event offered a mix of hands-on activities, including experimenting with scents and colours, to moulding soap, as well as taking part in outdoor games and sports.  Supported by staff and volunteers from Craft and Create, Fabulous Beasts, and Hartlepool’s community football coach the activities were designed to spark creativity and encourage teamwork. A number of young participants also took on volunteering roles to help deliver the sessions.

The event, led by Trimdon Community College Association and supported by our community grant and Durham County Council’s Fun and Food programme, reflects our commitment to meaningful, youth-focused opportunities. It showcases our shared values—supporting young people, strengthening community connections, and creating inclusive, welcoming spaces for all.

Annette Donohue, Centre Development Manager, said; "We’re proud to host events that bring people together and give children and young people a chance to shine. Parents have their children return year after year, they make real connections with other children, it’s what makes our centre such a special place."

Julie O'Connor, Community Regeneration Advisor, said; "It was great to see young people actively participating, but also see them helping to run the sessions. These events offer a valuable chance to build practical skills, boost confidence, and strengthen community connections"
