We've supported our tenants in applying for the Northern Housing Consortium's (NHC) Unlocking Success Bursary Scheme. This year marks its 50th anniversary which was celebrated with the launch of a bigger and better version of the Charitable Trusts Scheme. It offers social tenants financial support to help develop learning and skills to support future employment.
Our Livin Futures team is delighted to confirm that 11 tenants have been awarded £500 each towards the cost of learning or courses, travel, childcare, equipment, and learning materials giving them the best opportunities to succeed in their chosen career. For these applicants that includes mobile hairdressing, child minding, leather restoring, and beautician work. It will also fund driving lessons, full-time training courses, and equipment for new job roles.
Lisa Newham, Livin Futures Adviser, said: " The unlocking success scheme is a great way for our tenants to gain additional support through funding, and it's great to see how the money benefits them. we'll continue to work with the tenants, and I'm looking forward to being able to share their success stories in the next few months."
