Partnership provides lifeline to tenants in Ferryhill

Hub with a Heart programme, run from the LADDER Centre, Ferryhill is helping tenants to turn their lives around.

During the last year, the programme partially funded by our community grants, has worked with over 50 tenants who have financial and long-term health issues and have presented themselves as being isolated and struggling.

In one example a lady contacted the programme as she was struggling with low income and poor mental health. Over a three-month period, staff delivering the programme identified additional income entitlement and a backdated payment making a life-changing impact on her income.  Wellbeing support enabled the tenant to seek GP treatment and following a bereavement was able to return to the programme to navigate the difficult periods in her life.

Our tenant said: "LADDER has been a lifeline during the worst possible time in my life. Not only from the financial wellbeing perspective but also by offering somewhere I could come and talk in confidence"

Julie O' Connor, community regeneration adviser said: "We are very lucky to have partnerships like this in place.  They are vital to the support of tenants in our communities. The LADDER Centre delivers many successful programmes as they can work closely at a local level to offer the best options of support for the individual."
