Last month, alongside Mears Group, Glendale and Orbis, we joined tenants and residents of Lilburn Close, Shildon to carry out community improvements.
Twelve volunteers spent the day helping out with litter picking, trimming and removing overgrown shrubbery, clearing footpaths, painting, clearing out gutters, and fitting low-energy security lights,
Joinery work to fencing was completed, and works to the community lounge were arranged, including a new bin store and pointing works to surrounding homes.
Two tonnes of soil were removed from the area which had built up over time making it difficult to use the footpaths. The tenants and residents made full use of the skip we provided for them to dispose of any unwanted items.
Livin tenant said "It's really nice to see everyone out on the estate today it's made such a big difference to how it looks already"
Malcolm Gray, Community Investment Manager said: "Community-based projects such as these are essential for us to understand what matters to our tenants and residents. It was a thoroughly productive day spent with hard-working volunteers with a great end result."
