Volunteer-run gym in Chilton upgraded to support community wellbeing

The Chilton Legacy Gym received a welcomed upgrade thanks to a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project delivered in partnership with our repairs and maintenance provider Mears Group.

Run entirely by volunteers, the gym at Chilton and Windlestone Sports and Social Club, opened in 2020, partners with the local GP surgery and support networks to provide vital rehabilitation support for residents and tenants recovering from illness or injury.

The improvements included external drainage upgrades, brickwork repairs, and internal treatments to ensure the gym remains safe, dry, and welcoming.

Paul Bielok, Gym Manager said; "The support has been very much appreciated. We have a lovely group of regular users who come along for a work out and a chat. The work done has helped towards creating that friendly atmosphere in an attractive surrounding".

Andy Coulthard, Community Regeneration Manager said; “This project is a brilliant example of how we’re working with partners to invest in places that matter to our tenants. It shows how social value can be delivered in a way that directly supports health and wellbeing through community initiatives and social prescribing"
