£500 NHC bursary helps launch painting and decorating business

Dylan Chamley from Newton Aycliffe has been awarded a £500 NHC Bursary to kickstart his new painting and decorating venture - DMC Painting and Decorating.

The bursary, awarded by the Northern Housing Consortium, with the support of our Livin Futures team, has enabled Dylan to purchase essential equipment, including rollers, brushes, dust sheets, and ladders.Drawing on years of hands-on experience in home improvement, Dylan Chamley delivers expert decorating services marked by precision and care. Dylan’s wife, Rebecca, is getting involved too—she’s planning to take a bookkeeping course so she can handle the business finances.

Dylan Chamley said: “This bursary has given me a new lease of life and a chance to start my very own business after years of transforming my home. The bursary has helped me purchase the tools I need to get started and focus on doing what I love every day. I look forward to taking on new clients with DMC painting and decorating, which i couldn't have started without Louise's support."

Louise Miller, Livin Futures Adviser said: "For Dylan, this wasn't just about starting a business, it was about rediscovering purpose and turning a passion into a future. After years of helping others, Dylan wanted to focus on something that sparks creativity and brings a sense of achievement and it was a pleasure to be able to support him."
