Children enjoy a summer of fun activities and healthy food
Over 540 children and young people from local communities enjoyed a summer of healthy food and family activities in conjunction with Durham County Council's Fun and Food programme.
We were able to deliver activities in five of our communities with the support of eight community partners; Spennymoor Youth Centre, Trimdon Grange Community Centre, Village Hall and Community College, Shildon AFC, Ferryhill LADDER, Groundwork, Jubilee Fields Community Centre and Berri Education.
Activities included something for everyone, family outings, arts and crafts, sports, games, cooking, dance, singing, and even animal petting. All the children and young people who took part received a healthy meal, thanks to Fun and Food.
Andy Coulthard, Community Regeneration Manager said: “It's great to see partnerships like this between different organisations. The Fun and Food programme is an excellent initiative that ensures children and young adults are well-nourished with healthy meals whilst they enjoy activities and outings. It's inspiring to see the positive impact that this partnerships has had in the communities”.
