Local cleaner achieves her dream with NHC Bursary

The £500 Northern Housing Consortium Unlocking Success Bursary has given Justyna Radecka, Newton Aycliffe, the vital boost to turn her dream into reality.

Supported by our Livin Futures team, Justyna successfully applied for the bursary, which has funded essential cleaning supplies and equipment, including a Henry Hoover, cleaning mops, and a wet-dry Karcher vacuum. This has enabled her to complete the British Cleaning Certificate, the British Cleaning Office and Housekeeping Diploma, and the Cleaning and COSHH qualification.

Justyna is focusing her cleaning services on supporting older and disabled residents in Newton Aycliffe who may struggle to manage household tasks. Alongside this, she plans to take on larger projects such as those for local estate agents and other larger businesses.

Justyna Radecka, our tenant, said: "The bursary has allowed me to start Trust Tidy Cleaning, meaning I can manage my work-life balance more easily with my children still being at school and my fiancé working full time. It has been a huge step forward for me, allowing me to develop myself and my skills whilst growing my business and securing my future."

Louise Miller, Livin Futures Adviser, said: “It has been lovely to support Justyna to achieve her dream ambition of becoming a self-employed cleaner. Winning the NHC Bursary has opened up this exciting opportunity for Justyna, meaning she can work around her family commitments.”

Available to tenants across the North of England, the Unlocking Success Bursary offers grants for training and equipment. The scheme is designed to remove financial barriers to learning and help residents unlock new employment opportunities. For more information, click here.
