More energy efficient homes available from autumn 2023
In June 2021 we successfully designed and let two pilot eco homes on our regeneration in Travellers Green, Newton Aycliffe. The homes included Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP), a form of renewable energy technology that absorbs heat from the outside air and uses it to heat the home, providing a cleaner source of heating.
The eco homes were a huge hit with our tenants and led to low-carbon technology featuring in the design of further development sites located at Barnfield Road, Spennymoor and Canopus Close, Newton Aycliffe.
Our latest developments in Laburnum Grove, St Helens Auckland and Maple/Firtree, Shildon will add an additional 22 homes featuring ASHP and 13 featuring solar panels with battery storage proven to reduce energy costs for tenants (due for completion in spring 2023 and autumn 2024 respectively).
“Energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions is a priority for us. Moving towards cleaner energy makes sense for both the energy efficiency and sustainability of our new homes” - Andrew Kitchen, Head of Development
