Shildon mam awarded £500 bursary to launch business with Livin Futures support
Britney Kennedy, 21, from Shildon, has been awarded a £500 Unlocking Success Bursary to help launch her own eyelash technician business.
The bursary, awarded by the Northern Housing Consortium, with the support of our Livin Futures team has enabled Britney to buy essential products and take up a beauty training course, expanding her business beyond offering treatments to friends and family.
As a single parent and care worker, Britney has worked since the age of 16 and has big plans to use the bursary to further her skills. Seeking business advice from South Durham Enterprise and with the support of Louise from our Livin Futures team, Britney received guidance throughout her application and business planning process.
Britney Kennedy, our tenant, said: “Having my own beauty business is my dream and this will help achieve a healthy work-life balance. The bursary will make a real difference.”
Louise Miller, Livin Futures Adviser, said: “We’re delighted to see Britney’s hard work and ambition recognised. The Unlocking Success Bursary is all about helping people like Britney take the next step towards their goals.”
The Unlocking Success Bursary Scheme, funded through the Northern Housing Consortium, is available to tenants across the North of England. The scheme aims to help individuals develop learning and skills to support future employment, with grants available for a wide range of training, equipment, and personal development needs.
