Rent enquiries

If you are interested in renting a home at the Courts, you will need to register for Durham Key Options in order to apply.

We have started letting homes as they become available with large numbers of bids per home, so please remember you need to be on DKO to be considered.

What we've done so far

  • Completed centres of Aspen, Spruce and Laurel Court
  • Completed render and cladding on all homes
  • Fitted new loft insulation to 31 homes and topped up loft insulation in an additional four homes
  • Installed a further 35 homes with solar panels and batteries. Over a 12-month period solar installation will produce an average of 2,190Kwh of energy per year helping to reduce energy bills and our carbon footprint
  • Installed new triple glazing
  • Constructed two new roads, one between Laurel and Aspen Court, and one between Spruce and Laurel Court
  • Constructed driveways in Spruce, Laurel and Aspen Court
  • Installed new wooden garden fences
  • Installed metal fencing to homes alongside paving and turf
  • Removed the site compound so that it can act as a temporary parking area for residents

What have we done to help sustain and develop the estate?

We have:

  • Regenerated homes in the Courts and retrofit with energy efficient measures
  • Replaced several flats at Maple and Firtree with accessible, energy efficient bungalows
  • Improved open space and biodiversity in partnership with the Friends of Jubilee Fields, Shildon Town Council Durham Wildlife Trust and the Brightwater partnership which includes Groundwork and Durham County Council
  • Supported the community centre to be more sustainable - LED lighting funded through Mears, redecoration through PPG Industries and secured funding from the Northern Powergrid to add solar panels and batteries to help reduce energy bills
  • Worked with our community partners to deliver activities in our communal lounges
  • Delivered employment, training and financial inclusion support
  • Enabled the delivery of school holiday programmes including family events and trips

The Courts recycling project

As part of our joint commitment with Mears to reducing carbon emissions, looking after our planet and helping you to save money we aim to recycle and reuse as much of our waste as possible.

In our first phase, we recycled the equivalent of 4 large, fitted kitchens, 2 skips worth of waste and the equivalent of 2 large elephants in weight.

Whilst in our second phase, we have tried to recycle as much of the fencing as we can and where possible offered this to residents.

We have recycled all the tarmac and bricks and removed it from the centre of each of the courts by breaking it up into rubble for the subbase before we put on the new tarmac.

You can keep up to date on the project on the Jubilee Fields Regeneration Facebook page.
