Our people case study - Charlie Seaman, Electrician Apprentice

Charlie from Newton Aycliffe joined us as an Electrician Apprentice in September 2025, bringing a clear ambition to build a practical, hands‑on career. After completing his GCSEs and an introductory electrical installations course at Darlington College, a two‑week house rewire placement cemented his interest in the trade. With a learning style that thrives on doing rather than sitting in a classroom and inspired by watching his dad build a career through an apprenticeship, Charlie decided that a Level 2 Electrician Apprenticeship was the right route to kick‑start his future.

Since joining, Charlie has quickly become involved in a variety of electrical work, from installing and repairing sockets, lights, switches, fans and electric showers to supporting minor installations and learning the essentials of full system testing. He studies at college one day a week and applies what he learns immediately on site.

“I’m someone who learns by getting stuck in, An apprenticeship gives me real experience every day, and I’m enjoying seeing how everything works in the real world.”
